I wanted to invite you to attend our virtual Samson Society meetings on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm.
The Samson Society was founded to provide a safe place for authentic connection between Christian men because many men, myself included, have a natural tendency toward isolation. One of our regular readings states that we recognize that we are “natural loners who have recognized the dangers of isolation and are determined to escape them.”
Each week, we get together to share what’s going on in our lives and what’s on our hearts. We’ll typically have a suggested topic to discuss but you are welcome to share whatever is commanding yourz attention. Some of our recent topics were “heroes”, “anger”, and “hope”. One unique aspect of the meeting is that we don’t give advice to each other during the meeting. We believe that those conversations are best as private conversations between friends. In the meeting, we’re there to listen to and support one another.
While I support the concept, I don’t love the term “social distancing”. As someone else suggested, what we need is physical distancing and social closeness. That’s why we’re doing Samson Society virtually via Google Meet. So even if you’ve never attended an in-person meeting, I encourage you to join us.
If you have any questions about the meeting, please let me know. I hope to see you there.
