The Ground Zero of Hope

May 24, 2020 Speaker: Albert Turner

Passage: Romans 8:28–39

Read Romans 8:28-39

  1. What is God’s great purpose for your life as revealed in verse 29? Try to describe this in your own words.

  2. Between being called (conversion) and glorified (resurrection) something needed to happen to you. You needed to be justified. What does this mean?  (NOTE: If you do not know what it means to be “justified,” it’s really important that you do. Read Romans 3:19-4:8 to try to get a better sense of this word. Pay special attention to Romans 4:2-8.)

  3. Paul says in Romans 8:32, that since God did not spare his own Son but gave Him up for us all, we can, therefore, count on God to graciously give us all things besides. What does this mean? Does this mean we can count on getting all we want from God anytime? How does this relate to God’s purpose for us in verse 29?

  4. See verse 34. What does Paul mean when he says, “Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus who has died.” What kind of argument is Paul making about accusations that come against us? Is he making excuses for us? Is asking us to make up for it later? What is his point?

  5. Where is Jesus now and what is He doing for you this very moment?

  6. Given your present circumstances, what do you think you can you ask God for right now, in Jesus’ name, to “graciously give you” in order to help you move towards His purpose for you in verse 29.
